Menchies: The Frozen Yogurt Fad

Sure, Menchies is quite a drive for some of us – but it is definitely worth your time. But what is Menchies? Nothing less than frozen yogurt heaven.

When you first arrive at the shop, you are enveloped in a plethora of color and shapes. This isn’t any ordinary ice cream parlour! The design is fairly modern and pleasing to those of any age. Not only is the design pleasing, but the service is unique. Don’t worry about having to choose your toppings through a little glass window – you take on the role and find your own toppings and get your own yogurt. Upon arriving to Menchies, you grab a cup, and start creating your masterpiece.

You start out at the Frozen Yogurt wall – an organized chaos – levers everywhere, each associated to a flavour. I’m not kidding when I say that there are a lot of flavours, some you may have never known existed. Gingerbread…Latte…Angel food cake…Egg nog?! In addition to a wide variety of flavours, Menchies offers a “toppings wall” with toppings ranging from fruits (such as watermelon, peach, etc.), to andes mints and popping boba. There are also several no/low fat or sugar options for those concerned about what they eat.

Be warned! Don’t pile as much yogurt into your cup as you can. By the time you reach the checkout, your receipt may read well over $10.00. This is because Menchies charges by the mass of the contents in your cup. If you’re conservative however, a small to medium frozen yogurt may average out to about $6-$7 with an additional cost of up to $24.99 if you choose to buy any of their apparel. (Can you believe that? A frozen yogurt shop with their own hoodies, watches, and dolls!)

This image is SO misleading. It may be yummy, but at what cost? That looks like a $15.00 yogurt to me.

Hold your horses though, because before you head out the door you should take into consideration how far some of you may have to travel. The closest Menchies to Calgary is in Airdrie, so while it may not be the best choice for a quick snack, I would definitely recommend giving Menchies a visit every now and then. Be sure to check out their site for more information on flavours!

Quick Note on Fundraising:

Be sure to take a look on their site, because Menchies can also help you fundraise for your event by selling frozen yogurt!
