Homemade Gingerbread Latte

With Christmas fast approaching, it’s important to get into holiday spirit. What better way than to warm up by the fireplace with a cozy, steaming mug of gingerbread latte? Gingerbread latte is a classic Christmas time favourite, and for good reason too. The perfect blend of sweet and spicy– what could you want more? Well, instead of buying an overpriced, sugar loaded drink, why don’t you try making your own gingerbread latte at home the next time the craving hits? Not only is it cheaper and healthier, but you won’t have to go out into the freezing cold to buy yourself one! This gingerbread latte recipe is super easy to make, and is also made with simple pantry ingredients many have access to at home. To make it even more of an experience, turn on some Christmas carols, plug in the twinkle lights, grab a family member, and get your holiday spirit on!

Recipe

Serves 2

Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups milk
  • 1 cup coffee (can be hot or cooled)
  • 1 t cinnamon
  • ½ t ground ginger
  • ⅛ t ground nutmeg
  • ½ t vanilla extract
  • 1 T molasses
  • 2 T maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Add the milk, coffee, spices, vanilla, molasses, and maple syrup to a blender and blend until combined.
  2. Transfer mixture to saucepan, and set over medium heat. Be careful to watch closely, as it will boil very suddenly.
  3. Once heated to desired temperature, divide into two mugs.
  4. Garnish with whipped cream, extra cinnamon, gingerbread cookie crumbles, or whatever you desire and enjoy.
