I could say I'm just another YAA contributor, but you don't want to underestimate the leadership power of all my fellow youth. From blogging, I've learned that writing is great, but it's versatility can only come when it provokes discussion and inquiry, and that's what we can collectively do best.
I want to rather get to know your insights, so always feel free to shoot me comments here and there.
We all ponder upon the stars; whether it’s the constellations or the otherwise great patterns, it’s a mystical occurrence. Calgary’s light pollution can prevent us from seeing spectacular images of the night sky, something that this video by NOVELAPSE timelapse recordings might be able to remedy: As always, check out all the other timelapses I’ve shared on…
Four weeks until Christmas holidays… For starters, if you are a Youth Central volunteer, there are already tons of Christmas-related projects, so it’s close. Here’s a nice timelapse video to jump-start the festive spirit. My YAA colleagues have already brainstormed their Christmas blog post ideas, so go check ’em blog posts out once they get…
Before we start, feel free to have a listen to this music as we go along. I usually get infected with the relaxation music brings, and nostalgia from Pokemon music. Satisfaction is a concept we use in food, but it certainly isn’t a word only used to described the pleasure of savoring the different flavors.…
Those bills may look pretty foreign right now, but they won’t starting next month. Yes, the Bank of Canada will be releasing $5 and $10 polymer notes on the 7th, which is the last remaining implementation. If you read my post on cashier observations from last week, you know I don’t treat those polymer bills…
The only relevance that picture has to this wonderful topic is that debit machine in the corner. But hey, who doesn’t like a big bucket of candy? Candy is especially relevant to the nature of where I’m working though. After all, I work at ScreamFest! If you don’t know about it, Aaron has a super…
Venice is charming, isn’t it? The waterways and classical architecture are especially so. Go get mesmerized with this timelapse by Joerg Niggli: 😀 Enjoy the rest of the timelapses I’ve shared too.
I’m BACK (to YAA). Okay, I admit it isn’t that exciting. Even then, blogging still invigorates me; blame school for preventing me from doing a bunch of posts. Autumn is an exciting season though. Most summer lovers will disagree with this, but I get more excited when fall is here. The yellow, orange, and green…
The spring of life offers a wealth of beauty along with it’s essential role in our survival; water is deserving of the focal point when taking photos that involve it. Being adaptable, the flow can invoke excitement and tranquility at the same time. On the Labour Day weekend, I headed out to Bow Falls and…
I admit that snow gets boring fast (and I mean really fast), but the fascination never seems to die down when a snow globe captures the gaze of so many. The deep freeze may not seem picturesque, This creative touch of enchantment gave the urban winter a sense of vibrancy that makes it an equally…
As I was doing my post on Canada’s Parks Day, I found a photo of Lake Louise from a summer trip that reminded me how the lake’s emerald colour leave us mesmerized at how nature forms such a graceful scene. The beauty at its peak, however, only reveals itself as Spring (or really Summer) hits…
An iconic symbol, the Calgary Tower is home to a revolving observation deck 191 meters high atop the ground. The breadth of the City from this advantageous vantage point is a dynamic one, which you can get a taste of with this timelapse shot by Matthew D. Cudmore: In addition to the video, check out the amazing…
In June, the YYCFlood articles which our bloggers crafted in the matter of a few days reaffirmed how quick the internet had to react to current issues. We weren’t even out of the state of emergency as I was doing my blog article on how social media reacted to the Alberta Floods; my late additions…
One of Western Canada’s tourism magnets, the Canadian Rocky Mountains attract great admiration for its pristine images. They are exhilarating, and so is this video – This timelapse was shot by Doug Urquhart in Vancouver and in Banff, Jasper, and Yoho National Parks. You can watch other timelapses I’ve shared by clicking here. Enjoy. 🙂
Subs N’ Bubbles under the sun…. well, cross out the bubble part. As I mentioned in my Sunfest post, I’m going to be chronicling how I ended up eating a Bulgogi (in this context, Korean marinated pork) Vietnamese submarine sandwich despite already had a snack at the volunteer headquarters… nah, that’s wasn’t what I said. Now that…
An Omatsuri, or a traditional festival, is a good display of the Japanese culture and lifestyle beyond the modern likes of Anime and Manga. With that in mind, no wonder that the third year of the Calgary Japanese Festival Omatsuri expanded many patrons’ horizons on their knowledge of Japan. Happi coats: Being a admissions and food ticket…
