I wish I could say that my name is Cordelia or that I can recite "The Highwayman" from memory or even that I live on Prince Edward Island. While these facts are unfortunately untrue, you can probably tell by now that I am a die-hard Anne of Green Gables fan! My name is Sarena Dharshi and I can say that one of my favourite poems is Tennyson's "The Lady of Shalott" and I have indeed visited Charlottetown, P.E.I. Some other fun facts about me: I attend Western Canada High School, my favourite colour is turquoise and I am a huge Harry Potter fan. I love writing and performing spoken word poetry and I am also a blogger for The Huffington Post.

Sadly, penny candies are quite rare. Although…

I thought I’d share a few secrets I’ve picked up through…
Final exams are finally hitting high school students and I don’t even have to design my own science lab to know that the rate of procrastination with the added stress is definitely increasing as well. Studying may seem like rocket science at times and I feel like “procrastination” is actually the perfect solution towards helping my…
I snapped this scene last August in downtown Calgary, at one of our city’s oldest but finest parks.
Excerpts from a beautiful spoken word poem by the Canadian poet Shane Koyczan: You see, I took class on listening So I could hear something positive And then live happily with the mindset That will give me altitude when needed. I’ve got a confidence so deep seeded It’s growing reverse. And I rehearse handshakes with titans Because…

When I visited the Canadian Parliament this summer, I discovered the four beautiful bronze angels located at the corners of the altar of the First World War Book of Remembrance in the centre of the Memorial Chamber. When I finally returned home this summer after seven weeks of being away, I found something rather surprising waiting for me. I suppose you could take it as a “welcome back” present from my mom. The object itself is actually rather commonplace- one of those solar flowers that moves its petals when exposed to sunlight…
Let’s start with some cultural literacy. What is Nuit blanche? First of all, it is French for ‘All-Nighter’ and is a cultural takeover in the given city in which it takes place. The ‘White Night’ has spread to countless major cities around the world including Canada’s own Montreal and Toronto as well as Europe’s Rome…

So this summer, I spent one unforgettable month at Carleton University in Ottawa. It is virtually impossible to express every moment that made this experience out-of-this-world in one blog post, but here goes. First of all, what is Shad Valley? A program whose motto “Drive, Stretch, Dream” is synonymous with “Live, Laugh, Love”. A…
