It's unbelievably amazing how writing autobiographical information can lead to a life-threatening (not to mention eye-twitching) case of writer's block! This leaves me no choice but to do so in the most uncreative way one could proceed: in lists. Although, enumerating facts is arguably the most logical route, as Sherlock Holmes may express. It, however, does not wholly illustrate my passion for visual arts, travel, and - as speculated - my tendency to live in novels of brilliance. My quiet nature could rival that of Holmes when he withdraws into his depths, but my wonderment toward metropolitan cities such as London and Paris parallels Nick Carraway's as he plunges into the world of The Great Gatsby. But enough ranting about oneself! Please enjoy our articles and do not hesitate to leave your thoughts underneath - we love to hear from you!

iPhone App: WordFoto

Hey iPhone owners! Tired of lame picture-editing applications from the App Store? WordFoto is something I found and thought to be pretty cool. The concept of the application really captured my interest – it turns pictures into word mosaics, which is really great for school projects, if I must say (not to go into a…

Bottled Worlds

While doing my weekly rounds of web-surfing, I’ve come across really astonishing things – one of which are these minuscule bottles (maybe I have a fad for miniature artwork, I’m not exactly sure…) Photo credits to this blog and this deviantART artist… Yes, I have a knack for being very descriptive in my writing. Now…

Life’s too short for the wrong job

I came across this really amusing yet informative ad campaign done by a German organization when surfing the web. It really reminded me of the many grade twelves who are applying for their post-secondary education – especially of those who feel pressured by their parents’ demands. No, there are not only three jobs in the world;…

3 Things for Calgary: My Version

On Friday, mayor Nenshi launched a campaign called “3 Things for Calgary” – advocating for a better community by encouraging our community members to do three things that will make Calgary a better place. When I heard Nenshi said, “It could be big things like, join your local community association or it could be small…

Museum of Miniatures in Taiwan

This summer, I had the most wonderful opportunity to travel and visit my birthplace in Taiwan. Of course, I took countless pictures of the familiar surroundings I grew up in, but the Miniatures’ Museum had me totally mesmerized – it was definitely one of the highlights of my trip. According to the museum’s description, the…

Microbiology on a real-life scale

Have you ever wondered what a virus looks like? An E. coli bacteria? Their structures are so minuscule and yet so intriguingly powerful; deadly. They control our lives and millions of lives around the world. Obviously not every virus and bacteria will negatively affect our lives, as some will even help our bodies carry out…

Wordle

This is just a little something I found on the internet and thought it to be very neat – creating “word clouds” from word blurbs and RSS feeds. Here’s a “Wordle” of the Youth Are Awesome home page:
