My very delicious piece of cheesecake :)

For the past four years, when school comes to a close and summer makes its debut, my mom and I have commemorated the cornerstone by going to the Cheesecake  Cafe, and today, it remains a sort of tradition between us. As

much as I love to bake, its always a treat to go out for a piece of cheesecake, and to try something new every visit, I usually have the monthly feature.

This month, the Cheesecake Cafe celebrates its 25th anniversary with its double cherry chocolate cheesecake, a rich, creamy, smooth cheesecake with layers of fruity cherry taste. This dessert is not to be confused with the classic cherry cheesecake we all know and love- a new-york style cheesecake with a cherry topping, but instead boasts swirls of cherry goodness blended into a rich cheesecake, and served with whip cream. For those who are fans of both cheesecake and black forest cake this feature is, put simply, heavenly.

The Cheesecake Cafe has also done something very unique with their anniversary cheesecake, on their Facebook page boasting that the cake “features an edible QR code that you can scan with your smart phone to link to our online contest.” Every week the contest is drawn for $25 giftcard winners, and monthly a $250 giftcard winner is drawn.

First QR codes became common signs and stickers on the streets, online, and in print, now, it seems, they may be advancing onto our dinner plates, connecting us virally from any location, be it reading a paper on the train to work, or eating dessert in a restaurant, advancing technology and communication in new ways, before never imagined.

Unbeknownst to me, however, I happily dug into my cheesecake, wondering about the curious design on my chocolate briefly, before popping it into my mouth. Completely forgoing scanning my code isn’t all bad though, all the more reason to go back for another piece.
