[youtube gFTwGv5yzUo]What is Youth Week?
Youth Week is based on an international initiative which acknowledges, celebrates and advocates youth empowerment, achievement and involvement throughout the year. From April 23 – May 1, 2011, Calgary communities, agencies and businesses come together to host events, projects and offer free services during a week long celebration of youth. We hope to stimulate growth and expansion in programs and services focused on young Calgarians and increase the general understanding of the needs of young people today.
Purpose
The purpose of Youth Week is to address the issues of today’s young people, bring together diversified youth, and showcase their talents, while celebrating the richness of their culture.
Mission
The mission of Youth Week is to create a supportive environment that mobilizes and celebrates diverse voices in Calgary.
Vision
Calgary’s Youth Week envisions youth and communities working together through partnerships. This week fosters an environment in which youth are contributing and valued members of society and where youth and adults have a positive view of each other.
