TV Spotlight: Two and a Half Men Series Reboot

Today, I will be reviewing the series reboot of immensely successful sitcom, Two and a Half Men, which was and still is a very frequent topic due to the chaos that ensued after Charlie Sheen went on his lengthy war with Warner Brothers. Due to this, Warner Brothers hired Ashton Kutcher as a replacement, since a show as popular as Two and a Half Men should not be cancelled.

Ashton Kutcher plays a nervous and neurotic billionaire who appears on Charlie’s house deck after he tries to commit suicide. This is because his wife leaves him due to his neurotic behaviour. Charlie, on the other hand, meets his demise when he is pushed into a moving train by Rose when she finds out he is cheating on her the day after she left her make-believe husband. This is shown indirectly and with a comedic twist, since Rose mentions that he fell onto the tracks when she was present near him. Walden (played by Kutcher) is shown to be an internet billionaire who suddenly decides to buy their house, which is now on sale, as Alan cannot pay the mortgage on the property. The thing that Warner Brothers Studios has done differently is that instead of a naturally exertive and confident Charlie, we get a nervous and distressed Walden. Although I was questioning whether Walden was the right choice, this interesting turn of events for the show is a very positive thing. This is because there are literally endless possibilites of comedy that could come out of this concept. Another noticeable change is that while Charlie acted like a suave gentleman, Walden appears to be appealing to women due to his sadness and his good looks. Walden’s emotions are very erratic, in terms of sorrow or anger. Since Alan also plays a neurotic and nervous character, I think it feels as if its too much if there’s two similar characters in the same show.

This season looks hopeful to me and many other viewers since Ashton Kutcher is naturally known for his goofy charm and since, people are not just ready to give up watching the top sitcom on television and this will cause even more people to watch the show. Although I don’t think it will match up to the previous hit show featuring Sheen, it still has potential to climb back up to the top.

Oh maybe I forgot to mention but, I'm addicted to comedy. TV sitcoms, stand-ups, comedy-sketch shows, you name it. I also like to play video games (surprise, surprise). I am of Indian heritage and love everything about it (except the corny movies and tv shows).
