I Survived KFC’s Double Down

Okay, so I wish there was a sticker for this (it’s not the healthiest thing to eat y’know!) ‘cuz I think this meal is more frightening than a donut burger! The other day, I was quite famished and found myself standing at the KFC booth. My friend and I decided to try the Double Down…’cause you’ve gotta try new things, right?

So I got it, for a pricey $6.99 ($8.99 for added fries and a drink). What are my thoughts? Surprisingly delicious! I never knew 540 calories, 32 g of fat, and 1380 mg of sodium could be so scrumptious.  For all those who don’t know, the Double Down is a sandwich with two pieces of chicken (originally fried, but the new one is grilled), two strips of bacon, two pieces of Monterey Jack and pepper jack cheese and Colonol’s Sauce.

Honestly, that amount of meat was not the greasiest thing I’ve ever eaten. The chicken was quite juicy, and the bacon was quite greasy (as one would expect). The added cheese really brought the flavor together, but I felt that the sauce just added more salty taste to the sandwich, rather than adding a delicious flavor.

Overall, above satisfactory. Now would I ever buy it again? Well, only if I was desperate. It was pretty filling (and since I was sharing, I only had half) yet a bit on the pricey side. I’m the type of person who would only spend around $5 when it comes to fast food, so it’s your call on its worth. So I highly suggest that you don’t eat one of these on your own. You might get bloated!
