Summer brings adventure and relaxation! It’s the time to keep the brain learning and doing! One of mine is to just draw my heart out when I couldn’t before in the school year.

Here are some of the steps I had taken to drawing a not-so-monochromatic Jaguar. Be ready and committed to sit in a chair for 5 hours straight.

Step 1: Draw the fundamental shapes and outline. I start with a light outline of the head and work my way to the features of the face. ~4-5 hours

Step 2: Define the features. Again, I define a group of features one at a time. There were mini-steps in adding just the whiskers, just the spots, just the ear and just the nose. I tried different techniques, including stippling for the nose. ~4-5 hours

Step 3: Shade, emphasize and further define key features. Recognizing the light source is important! ~ 5-6 hours

Step 4: Add a pop of colour! ~2-3 hours
