StarKid musicals you should definitely watch

I’m someone who loves musicals, but of course, watching Broadway productions isn’t exactly easy and available. So often, when I’m looking for a new musical to watch or listen to, I turn to StarKid.

For those who don’t know, StarKid, is a YouTube channel that writes and stars in their own musicals. Each of them are fantastic, so below, I’ve listed my top four favourite StarKid musicals, just in case anyone’s ever looking for something new.

4. Firebringer

This musical is basically all about a tribe of cave men discovering fire. It has a science-fiction theme to it, but its super funny and every single one of the actors are amazing. It’s one of the ones I’ve watched more recently and I just love it.

3. The Trail to Oregon

This one follows a family in the late 1800’s making their way to Oregon. The musical is actually a little interactive, since the characters names are chosen by the audience, as is the outcome at the very end. It’s a hilarious musical featuring some fantastic songs, and the vocals are so good.

2. Harry Potter musical series

I’m sure this sounds a little strange, but trust me, these musicals are worth watching. The series consists of the first one, A Very Potter Musical, A Very Potter Sequel which is the second one and then A Very Potter Senior Year. These musicals are basically a parody of the Harry Potter book series, and trust me, they’re incredible. I myself, am a huge Harry Potter fan, so I wasn’t sure how I felt about someone making fun of something I loved. But it’s actually really well done and definitely worth watching.

1. The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals

This is StarKid’s most recent musical, and I love it so much. I’ve watched it three times and I cannot stop listening to it. It’s basically about this guy (Paul) dealing with an alien invasion of aliens who turn peoples lives into a musical. It’s so well done, its amazing and the acting is absolutely phenomenal.

Those would be my top four, but honestly, any StarKid musical is fantastic and I think I’d recommend them all.
