Russia Ukraine

The war started in 2014, but has now escalated, leaving people in Ukraine hurt, scared, and without homes. During this escalation, Russia bombed a maternity ward in Ukraine that had many day old infants. Learning about this at school and hearing about it on the news makes me want to cry. I feel pain for all those Ukrainians who have lost their homes, families and much more.

Putin should not be doing this, he is arresting people for protesting. One woman faces the penalty that is up to 15 years in prison for protesting! She stood up on a Russian news show and held a sign that said “stop the war!” To me, this woman is amazing. She is trying to make a difference among many other Russians who do not support Putin.

There is always good in the bad. But, in this situation it’s hard to find. In Poland several people greeted the Ukrainians at the train stations with first aid, food, and water. Some people left their strollers for the people who could not bring their own. These all look like small acts but they really mean so much.

When I heard about this Russia Ukraine situation all I could think about was the people who are suffering and fleeing because their homes are not safe anymore. I look at this situation, and try to imagine what it would be like if this happened to us. Imagine leaving your home and everything you knew because people or a person doesn’t care about you and your well-being. What he is doing is affecting so many people around the world. I hope for this to be over soon, for the Ukrainians to return home and for Putin to stop or be stopped very soon.
