How many of you love to volunteer? I am guessing majority of you will say yes! How awesome would it be to join a council that meets with the mayor once or twice a year, gets plenty of opportunities and represents the City of Calgary? Join the Mayor’s Youth Council– a Youth Central committee. It’s truly an unbelievable experience as you get to meet a diverse group of youth that are passionate about improving our city.
Last year there were four committees: Youth Week, the Blogging committee, Community Outreach committee and the City Issues committee. Each one is involved with voicing Calgary youth’s opinions. From volunteering, blogging on youthcanvote.com, endorsing youth friendly spaces and ensuring youth are maintaining health relationships is what Mayor’s Youth Council is all about. MYC also got the opportunity to get VIP passes to meet the Royal Couple up close and personal. Once-in-a-lifetime opportunities like these truly come your way if you join this council. The amount of publicity and recognition you are given is unbelievable because it’s a great load of work- but it’s worth it.
