Las Vegas – a review of Cirque du Soleil’s “O”

This being my second time in Las Vegas, I truly did not know what to expect from this city so well known for gambling and parties – more for the over 21 crowd. You know you’ve arrived in Vegas when you hear the slot machines ringing at McCarren International Airport.

However, there’s more than just gambling in Vegas – you also have the opportunity to experience amazing shows in nearly every hotel. Being busy, I’ve – sadly – missed the chance to see Cirque du Soleil’s OvO in Calgary earlier this year (click here for a review and pictures if you missed it too!) The highlight of my trip was certainly Cirque du Soleil’s “O” at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino.

The show had amazing acrobatics that revolved around water features. The stunts are truly dazzling, amazing… and well, just breath-taking, knowing that people can actually perform these tricks. There was also a really interesting scene where a man was lit on fire for the longest time.

What really confused me, however, was the plot of the performance – if it had one at all. The characters seem to be doing different things in different scenes and not sticking to their “role.” This was perhaps the only thing that was flawed; other than that, I would totally recommend for others to go see it if you have the chance!
