International Summer School For Young Physicists

It’s almost the middle of March, and student’s are finding themselves buried in the mountain of tests and assignments that never fails to show up just before Spring Break. It is therefore perfectly understandable that as high school students, there is probably nothing that you would want more that than to throw away your pens and pencils, and rip all the papers so you never have to write again. However, for those of you aspiring physicists out there, you may just have to pick up your pencil back up, and start writing, because I am here to inform you of a program that you probably dream of.

The International Summer School for Young Physicists (ISSYP) is truly the ultimate program for physics enthusiasts. Hosted at the Perimeter Institute: Canada’s leading theoretical physics research institute, the program boasts of:

  • Presentations by leading researchers on cutting edge theoretical physics: topics range from super-string theory and quantum computing to dark matter and black holes.
  • Opportunities to collaborate with leading international theoretical physicists through small group mentoring sessions.
  • Mini-courses on modern physics designed to deepen insights into Einstein’s ideas and the quantum nature of our universe.
  • Hands-on research experience and opportunities along with tours of first-class research facilities.

Apart from the factors mentioned above, the program also provides students with the opportunity to meet and befriend amazingly talented young physics enthusiasts from around the globe. Personally, I believe that it is these connections that is the true value behind ISSYP.

So if you’re like me, and have an insatiable thirst for knowledge on the great physical laws, then check out the application on this websiteThe deadline is March 29th, and remember that for every bit of extra work that you put in now, you will be rewarded tremendously later on.

P.S. Just to prove that the program is just as fun as it is educating, here is a clip of a “toothbrush contest” that was present during one of the ISSYP sessions:

Hi! I'm Xiancheng Wu, but you can just call me Lewis. I enjoy everything that has any connection with math (Stereotypes aren't made without a reason) especially Physics. In fact, I enjoy everything since everything has some connection to math, even football! Enjoy your readings and if you're really careful, maybe you'll notice that all of my word counts are even numbers :)
