Dear all graduates and those graduating,

Moving into a new beginning, your mind pregnant with the fear of the unknown can be overwhelming. It is overwhelming. The worries of adapting to your new surroundings, the challenges of making new friends; the inevitable insecurities of self-doubt…

However, as the saying goes, “It is not the strongest of species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change.”

Change is perhaps as inescapable as the rawness of human emotion or the incessant process of thought. There is no reason not to embrace the exciting prospect of opportunity and growth.

Grant Snider has created a comic panel illustrative of the journey of life itself. I hope it inspires you to look forward to the thrilling adventure that awaits you.

Sincerely,

  1. The fear of stepping out into a new world, not knowing where your next steps will take you is quite common. However, fear only exists if you choose it to and the process of venturing out of the safe cocoon is an important one in which we learn more about ourselves and the world around us, and grow in the process. Congratulations to those starting out on a new path this September! Conquer your fears and you will soon be a new generation of leaders.

    • Thanks for the encouraging words, Ananya! Stepping out of our comfort zones definitely brings about new experiences, despite the insecurities we associate with the process. But quite often, we can surprise ourselves with what we can accomplish.
