I never really knew what to expect from Grade 10 until I experienced it. But, looking back at the memories made in 9 months, I’m surprised about where I ended up versus in where I started. I was a nervous 14-year-old intimidated by my peers and the unknown classrooms. Now, I see students I pass in the hallway as my equal because we’re all trying to figure this high school thing out. But instead of just talking about it, why don’t I show you? Twitter played a huge role when it came to venting about procrastinated work or sharing big accomplishments. I can’t emphasize how much I’ve used it this year to talk about all sorts of topics relevant to students like us.
Curious about what I tweet? Then let’s go on a journey…
High school had a rocky start…
…and with the new environment, everyone was feeling the pressure.
Sometimes the classes were easy…
…but sometimes, they were definitely not.
And sometimes, you just want to give up.
You’ll meet great friends…
…and procrastination will be one of them.
You’ll want to retreat…
…because everything gets so overwhelming…
…but you know what? That’s okay.
Things get better…
…and you’ll find the things you love to do.
When you find your niche, high school isn’t so bad.
Your hard work does not go unrecognized.
Before you know it, your first year of high school has passed…
…and you’re ready to do it all over again come September.
I hope you enjoyed my spin on my first year of high school! These tweets of mine are genuine and I’m glad I was able to document them to make this post possible. I would not trade everything I experienced for anything. If you finished Grade 10 or are about to start high school, what were your highlights or what do you plan to accomplish?
“I am fated to journey hand in hand with my strange heroes and to survey the surging immensity of life, to survey it through the laughter that all can see and through the tears unseen and unknown by anyone.” – Nikolai Gogol
