Eyesight for Life Charity Concert is this Sunday!

My friend Shelley has been planning a concert for some time now, and it’s finally going to happen!  This Sunday, the Eyesight for Life Charity Concert is on March 21, 2010 at 2:30pm.  It will be held at the Steinway Hall at Irene Besse Keyboards, and will feature musical performances from talented youth musicians.  All of the concert’s proceeds will be donated to The Glassco Foundation for Children helping to build a well in Zambia and provide medication and surgery for 45% of the population in the Gwembe Valley, who are affected with trachoma and cataracts.  The donations the Glassco Foundation receive go directly to children, making this all the more a worthwhile cause.  There will also be a silent auction at the event, including an autographed Miikka Kiprusoff poster, various gift baskets, gift cards, and other cool items!  The tickets are only $15 at the door.

Shelley applied to the Calgary Youth Foundation (CYF) for a grant to help subsidize the cost of her concert.  The CYF were happy to help her by paying for $200 of her concert expense in the last grant cycle.  If you would like to learn more about the Calgary Youth Foundation, click here.

Shelley’s event is awesome because it is entirely planned and run by youth in Calgary.  Along with her volunteer committee, Shelley has planned the event, contacted businesses for donations, and helped promote the concert.  The youth musicians performing are donating their time, and using their musical talents to benefit less fortunate children. Come and show your support for these bands and help a worthwhile cause.  Take a look at the poster for more details!
