Critical shortage of food hamper items at the Mustard Seed

With an increase in demand for food hampers over the Easter weekend, the Mustard Seed is facing a critical shortage of items for its food hamper program. The following items are urgently needed for distribution to impoverished Calgarians:

  • Dry pasta
  • Canned pasta sauce
  • Canned tomatoes
  • Soup (canned and cup-of-soup)
  • Rice
  • Canned fruit and vegetables
  • Canned tuna, ham
  • Kraft Dinner
  • Peanut butter and jams
  • Pancake mix and syrup
  • Cookies
  • Beans
  • Juice
  • Cereal (hot and cold)
  • Granola bars
  • Fruit cups
  • Eggs
  • Bread
  • Yogurt

You can drop these items off at the Mustard Seed at 102 – 11 Ave SE, just north of Youth Central’s office and just south of the Calgary Tower.

Since the beginning of April, The Mustard Seed has distributed more than 170 food hampers to individuals and families in need. Recipients include formerly homeless men and women who have moved into homes of their own and are now working to regain their independence.
