I wanted to do something fun for my blog this month, so I thought I would experiment with some creative writing prompts. I found a very interesting prompt which was “write a letter to your parents that persuades them to buy you something”, and I tried to write with a funny tone. In case you were wondering, my inspiration for this letter was my brother’s Halloween costume this year, which was a VSCO girl. Anyways, this is my letter:
Dear Mom and Dad,
I am writing to you to explain why I require a Hydro Flask to replace the outdated bottle I currently possess.
This may shock you, but I aspire to become a VSCO girl one day. I know you strongly desire for me to become an engineer or doctor, but before you panic, a VSCO girl can make the yearly salary of an engineer in just 1 Instagram post!
However, it is not just about money. It’s about making the world a better place! Did you know that VSCO girls saved 4 turtle species (#savetheturtles) from extinction last year thanks to their tireless efforts to spread awareness? Each video produced by these humble teenage girls receives no criticism and huge improvements to the global environment occur as a result. Thus, society regards VSCO girls as heroes of our time.
Based on US News, VSCO girls are twice as influential as the average student who graduates from even the best university in the world, Harvard.
Acquiring a Hydro Flask is the last step to discovering my true self. Over the past 4 years, I have painstakingly completed the first two steps — collecting all of the necessary scrunchies and metal straws. Yes, all 78 colors of both accessories. It would be such a waste of time and money if I could not progress to the final stage.
This is where you guys come in play. I only need $300 to buy the current trendy Hydro Flask. Although this may seem like a steep price to pay for a metal cylinder, believe me, it will be worth it. Within days of becoming a VSCO girl, I will repay double what I owe.
In short, the possession of a Hydro flask is the final and most essential part of a grueling journey which will eventually elevate me to the highest status in our society. All I need is a small sum of money. I hope you will let me pursue my dreams.
