Calgary Students Produce Esports Show at Home

Nothing to do at home? No problem.

Alberta has just announced that mass gatherings will not be allowed this summer.  Yes, this means no Stampede.  Even though this measure is very needed, it throws a wrench in the works for students.  Many Calgary students rely on these events to participate in the community, and to give back.  Many volunteering opportunities have been cancelled, so students are left at home with nothing to do.  However instead of being stagnant, many students have taken matters into their own hands.  One group of students from Henry Wise Wood High School have started producing their own esports show.  Meet Warrior Esports Club.

Warrior Esports Club

Warrior Esports Club has created an opportunity for students to apply the skills they’ve learned at school!  Skills learned in courses like Computer Science or Graphic Design are extremely useful.  Although these subjects aren’t as vital as subjects like math and science, they are often the subjects that students are most passionate about.  Unfortunately, these courses have largely been ignored while students learn online.  Teachers want students to focus on the subjects that matter the most.  But with an esports production, students have been able to keep up with the subjects they are most passionate about, while also mixing in a lot of fun.  You can find the Warrior Esports Channel here.

Is the Esports viewership good? Nope.  They definitely don’t attract viewers like professional productions.  However, their viewership is ok!  They pull in an average of 360 live views per broadcast.

Is their production quality good?  Nope.  The students produce and procure all the content!  There definitely are areas which are lacking. However, it’s still a lot of good fun!

Currently, they are hosting a League of Legends Tournament featuring local talent!  You can catch them live on Saturday and Sunday at 2pm to 6pm.

Here are some clips from their ongoing League of Legends Tournament:

1. The Perfect Rakan Engage

2. Dracose Trying to Carry his Team

It seems like these teenagers won’t allow their days minimizing non-essential travel to be without good fun.  Check them out for some good fun!
