Bring meaning to Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is approaching quickly, and as cheesy as it sounds, I started thinking about all our moms do for us. I suggest you do the same. Take a second. Go through your day to day life, and the difference your mom, mother, or whatever you want to call her makes.

In case you were unaware, Mother’s Day is this coming Sunday. Instead of the traditional, meaningless store-bought card,  bouquet of flowers, or coffee mug, how about finding your own way to show your mom you actually care? Again, think what your mom sacrifices for you. This is your one day to prove to her that its at least kind of worth it.

To get your creativity flowing, here are a few ideas of how you could make a more meaningful day for your mother:

  • Make food Breakfast in bed? I know my mom is insanely grateful when she doesn’t have to deal with meals for mothers-day-gifts-ideas_1367946263a day. Be creative. How about a mini buffet? Yum…
  • Homemade card Yes, these can be cheesy, but seriously, there are so many ways to make your own card that is so much more personal compared to buying something and just signing it. Check out Pinterest or similar sites for super easy designs and inspiration.

  • A twist on flowers At least to me, flowers are beautiful and I love them, but if I wanted to know that somebody cared about me, I’d prefer something a bit less traditional and, well, normal. But don’t throw away the flower idea. How about making your own form of flowers? Again, Pinterest, tumblr, and tons of other sites have loads of ideas. Or check out a post I did on ribbon flowers. Or check out this post by a fellow blogger on different ways to give flowers.

  • Personalize something This can be a lot easier than you’d think. Something as simple as decorating a journal or binder can be a nice touch of originality, and if it’s something your mom uses in her daily life, you’ll always be in her heart <3

  • Most importantly! Make something special to your mom Baseball-loving mom? Scrapbooking mom? Organic product-crazy mom? Know your mom, and acknowledge her for who she is.

That’s all I’ve got to say for now, but feel free to comment if you have ideas to share too!

Hmmm... So I'm supposed to summarize myself in a couple sentences? What do they think I am?!?!?! Normal?!?!?! I'm Julia, and I like doing all I can to be unique and not to be a grain of sand on a mile long beach. You'll notice quickly that I'm quite an advocate for mental health and positivity. So yeah. Hope you enjoy my posts :)
