Biking at Barrier Lake: A photographic journey

Long weekends call for adventure (or at least that’s what I think). My mom and I took advantage of our days off and headed out to Kananaskis, where we spent two nights. The first day, after lunch at Boundary Ranch, we headed over to Barrier Lake for a bike trip. The trail we took was 4 km each way, so a total of 8 km, but hills and rocky terrain made it a fairly strenuous ride, largely due to the fact that it was HOT outside. If it wasn’t for the pack covering my back, I’d probably be red and sunburned all over!

For those of you that have not been there before, Barrier Lake is a beautiful lake about an hour away from Calgary. On busy days (such as Labour Day weekend, when I was there), crowds of people fill the parking lot. But if you rent a kayak/canoe, lace up your hiking shoes, mount a horse, or jump on your bike, serene nature awaits you.

Now, photos to get you inspired (and hopefully get you outside and active!)…
