I could say I'm just another YAA contributor, but you don't want to underestimate the leadership power of all my fellow youth. From blogging, I've learned that writing is great, but it's versatility can only come when it provokes discussion and inquiry, and that's what we can collectively do best.
I want to rather get to know your insights, so always feel free to shoot me comments here and there.
……..The May long weekend has ended, and that means Otafest is now over. 🙁 *spams sad faces all over the blog post* Hey, we still have Otafest Aurora this year, so maybe I should be actively spamming happy faces all over this post. As I took advantage of being a volunteer this year, the one…
On every Urbanspoon (a trending website!) restaurant review page, the “opinions” section always has a “blog posts” section: Their Spoonback feature enables your food reviews for specific food places to be shown in that section! Letting readers access your food review blogs that way is very advantageous. If you click back to some of my food reviews, you’ll see…
If you head to any Asian supermarkets in Calgary, you’re likely to see one of these large jars sitting on shelves sitting along with other tea products instead of with jams. The contents are much more reminiscent of a marmalade than something to make “tea” with. The doubts are definitely reasonable – Citron tea, yujacha (유자차 in Hangul), is…
Friday’s charm is printmaking’s charm. When it’s the last day of the work week and you are prepared for a fun weekend adventure, you have more patience to do it! Two Fridays ago, this event was my chance to enjoy Creative Printmaking at the North Pleasant Arts Centre! (And to support Youth Week too!) It was a pretty quiet night…
Now now, what is this thing you speak of? – Hunger is an issue that may lead to homelessness, but also wider in scope. Through Food Banks Canada‘s HungerCount 2012 report, 53,512 people received food from Alberta’s food banks in the one-month survey period, 44.1% of those being under 18 years of age. Only 1.1% of those accounted for are living on…
Hot Pot is Hot Pot; who eats it for lunch? But that’s what happened one Friday afternoon at Hot Point Fusion Cafe. You can’t argue with hungry Asian teenagers, you know? (Especially a bunch of them) Although the streetscape on this stretch of Macleod isn’t exactly pedestrian-friendly, the relatively short walk (5 minutes) to the…
Improv, or rather improvisational theatre, is neat if you are the audience seeing it unfold. For the performers, though, it’s in a different league of its’ own compared with scripted productions. As part of Youth Week (of course), the Loose Moose Theatre Company (if you’ve ever heard Youth Central’s Andrew Phung do some public speaking, you know where…
An intricate mandala, while utilizing plenty of other shapes, forms unity in a circular fashion with often radial balance, like you saw in that video by blackfamesofmystery. In fact, mandala is loosely translated to “circle” in Sanskrit. This scared concept is significant in role in both Hinduism and Buddhism; it was also a form of expression we…
Literally translated as the “Fragrant Harbor” in Chinese, Hong Kong enjoys high economic status in Asia as a metropolis. That’s not without the period of rapid growth under British colonization. With this growth came a fusion of Western elements in the local cuisine, improvising many British staples. Instead of regular milk in the black tea…
As a young generation of Canadians, we are entrenched with a sense of security as we mature when it comes to emerging world issues. From the day we enter this world with astonishment and curiosity, we are protected on a global basis with the United Nation’s Declaration of the Rights of the Child. Even with these types…

We often start embracing old “fashion trends” again from time to time, don’t we? What does men in tights equal? Meggings, a combination of “men” and “leggings”, is the so called “fashion rage of 2013”. This trend is now sweeping fashion circles everywhere to the point where major media sites such as the Telegraph have noticed that more…
“This day is dedicated to young volunteers like us! Woot woot!” Now now, what is this thing you speak of? – What began in America as National Youth Service Day in the United States, Global Youth Service day is set on April 26 to 28th this year. The objective is simple; celebrating the youth around you…
Man, we have lots of forces battling against Poverty right now. Remember the Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness that I mentioned in both the Security or Poverty and Hunger Dinner articles? Did you read Sheliza’s poem on homelessness? What about Lily’s take on Seniors in Poverty? Okay, I know that’s a bit much of a…
