AMV Of The Day

I’ve decided to kick of my posts with an AMV (anime music video) of the day. The motivation for this comes from my own personal interest if not pseudo-addiction to certain Anime series’ and their AMVs.

This particular AMV is from Death Note.  It focuses on the endeavors of a murdered blinded by self righteousness (Light/KIRA) in killing and taking the place of the world’s best detective who is hunting him down (L/Ryuzaki). This AMV works well with the Anime, in my opinion, as the song used reflects the relationship that Ryuzaki and Light have when they’re working together to catch Light. Yes, Light does manage to get into Ryuzaki’s close circle of friends before his identity as the murderer is realized by Ryuzaki. The relationship is viewed upon from Ryuzaki’s perspective. Ryuzaki’s watching their relationship fall from grace is complimented well with the sense of “shiver” (the song used is Shiver by Elliot Minor) is carried out in his cringe as to what the relationship becomes… a shiver of what the relationship was in reality compared to what he thought. The connotation as well of notion of loss as well as shattered objects within the song amplifies the loss and shattering of relationships within the Anime greatly complimenting it. A fitting song indeed for Death Note, resulting in it being the AMV of the day today. Full credit goes to Obsessivemuch for creating the AMV, Elliot Minor for their song: Shiver, Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata for creating Death Note as well as Madhouse studio for developing the Anime.
