Can you smell it in the air…? The subtle waft of pumpkin and cinnamon spice is emerging once again and with it, so is fall. I hope I’m not the only one who has an unrealistically romanticized image of how fall is supposed to be. As someone who spends the entire year waiting for the season to roll around, only to be disappointed by how quickly it fades, I thought I ought to think of some ways to take advantage of the seasonal delights to fulfill my expectations. Read on to see my tips on how to make the most out the best season of the year.

Visit a Coffee Shop

A book and a nice cup of something warm, isn’t that the ideal fall we’ve all been dreaming for? Though maybe at this time of year your book is likely to be homework, the hum of a coffee shop is one of the best background noises for a focused study session. Some perfectly cosy fall cafes to visit include Vendome Cafe, Analog, MonogramSavour, and La Boulangerie.

Enjoy Fall Flavours

You certainly won’t find me complaining about all abundance of pumpkin-flavoured treats available this time of year. As a shameless lover of the infamous Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks and whatever apple pie spin-offs exists, here are some easy and quick fall dessert recipes that will make you feel the same way.

Go on a Nature Hike

Fish Creek Provincial Park (Image)

It’s perhaps the most beautiful time of year to go out and enjoy the beauty of the mountains before the snow hits. Having been out in K-country recently, I can tell you that the fall colours out there are incomparable, and I would imagine it’s like that for much of the national parks. However, if you’re crunched for time, Fish Creek Park is also alight with yellow, orange, and green and the trails make for a perfect hike, run, or bike ride.

Dress for the Weather Season

I hope it’s not just me, but I find that 80% of my wardrobe is suited for fall/winter, and summer always feels like a scramble for outfits. This just contributes to one of the many reasons why fall is my favourite. It is the perfect time of year to pull out all those mustard, burgundy, and navy pieces, plus, you can get away with jeans, skirts, boots, sweaters, and light jackets. Below are a few outfit combinations, pieces, and general fashion inspirations that are distinctly fall.
