Keto: Good or Bad?

Keto has its effects, it could cause low blood pressure, constipation, kidney stones, and more. Some doctors wouldn’t recommend keto to patients because it is not sustainable nor is it realistic. So, what do we really know about Keto? How did people feel after trying it? And would they do it again?

What is Keto and what do we know about it?

We know that the Keto diet is short for Ketogenic. This diet does involve a high amount of fat, an ordinary protein intake, and, of course, only a little intake of carbs. This does mean no fruits, starchy veggies, juices, honey/syrup, chips/ crackers, and any baked goods (including bread).

Adults that have tried keto lost 10% of their weight in a year without regaining any of it again. The initial weight that you may lose at first is just water weight. Water weight is just extra water stored in your body showing up as extra pounds on the scale. Water weight is a natural thing and everybody has it, so this is not something to concern yourself about. When starting the loss of weight is not actually from fat loss but the water as well as muscle loss.

I asked someone who went through with keto a couple questions:

Did you like it? Would you do it again? Would you recommend it?                 

She said “I would do it again but it requires a lot of motivation. It’s mostly easy to follow and I only recommend it if you are otherwise healthy and do not have any pre-existing conditions.”

In conclusion Keto is a good diet if you can handle it. If you can motivate yourself and have talked to your doctor then you are golden!
