Raising over $4,000 for Spread the Net Charity, Western Canada’s Interact Club has show success in making a difference in the global community. In cooperation with UNICEF and co-founded by Rick Mercer, Spread the Net is an organization that provides bed nets in countries like Rwanda and Liberia, among other African nations, to prevent the spread of malaria among the most vulnerable: children and pregnant women. The charity has aided in protecting lives of 2.5 million women and children and the cause is only gaining momentum.
To raise funds, students at Western sold root beer floats and hot chocolate before, during and after school. Christmas cards were sold as a means of spreading awareness and donations were also accepted online as well as from fellow students. Every contribution counted as each $10 contribution amounts to one bed net.
The passion and enthusiasm that these students have shown is impressive as is the amount of money raised. Spread awareness about Spread the Net and join the movement to help prevent malaria!
$4 000 is awesome! Great job to you guys!
