Interested in business, entrepreneurship, enterprise, or just having a lot of fun? On January 5th of 2013, a student (One of those students being our own Syed!) run initiative in partnership with the Junior Achievement, host to the popular Company Program, called Youth Business Network is holding a competition that put the business skills of teams of 5 high school students to the test. In these “case competitions”, students will be presented a problem by a real company that could happen to any corporation. These students will then have to use their knowledge of the four areas of business: finance, operations, marketing, and organizational behaviour. These students will present their solutions to some of Calgary’s most influential business professionals, and the best presentation wins!
This competition aims to educate youth in Calgary about business and be the most challenging and stimulating competition in the business world! There are cash prizes, and you get to spend a day working with your friends. To register for the competition, click here.
Youth Business Network also will be hosting an array of seminars and conferences in the future including a case competition workshop on December 8th. This event will allow students to be walked through the process of cracking a case and attending would be essential for anybody who is competing in January! Register for the workshop here. (It’s free!)
