The COVID-19 Vaccine

COVID-19. At this point, it has gone on for WAYYYYYY too long. Everyone, or at least I am incredibly sick of it. I think everyone just wants a taste of normalcy and the closest, safest chance we have to achieving that it is the vaccine.

Pros:

Vaccines offer some sort of protection.

Vaccines are safer and offer more reliable immunity than natural infection as immunity after infection is inconsistent. Immunity comes from the immune system’s ability to remember, and fight an infection

More freedom.

It’s an important tool to help stop the pandemic. Once you’ve been fully vaccinated, you can be indoors without wearing masks. AS LONG AS the room is filled with people who have also been fully vaccinated. Although, until there’s been more research on how vaccines affect the spread of the virus, you should still follow the safety precautions.

Cons:

Fastest known vaccine in history.

The previous fastest vaccine was the mumps vaccine and it took 4 years to create. Compared to the COVID-19 vaccine which was made in a couple of months. This raises a lot of concerns. Will it last? What are the side effects? Was enough research done? To be completely honest, no one really knows. There are not many known side effects. Take the AstraZeneca vaccine for example, it was thought to be safe but was later found out to have caused blood clots. So far, 232 women have died from this vaccine.

Your concerns about the vaccine are valid, and I understand. But the vaccine is the only chance that we have to returning to normal, or we could be stuck in this for longer than expected.
