What is great about New Year’s Eve?

The magic of the ball drop is a unique part of New Year’s Eve, but nothing epitomizes it like being in the same time zone as New York. Watching it on TV shows that there are a lot of other people that have the same defining moment that starts their new year!

In 2011 a movie called “New Year’s Eve” came out, and ever since it has been critically acclaimed. Some say it is a great movie, some don’t like it at all.

Last year when I watched the movie on New Year’s Eve, I was actually in the same time zone, and even though I called it a night shortly after 2013 was a reality, the mood conveyed by the movie together with watching the ball drop and being with family was awesome!

As an early New Year’s Resolution, let’s look on the positive side of things: What is great about this movie?

Well, it starts with all the actors that show their talent on the big screen: Michelle Pfeiffer, Zac Efron, Robert De Niro, Halle Berry, Alyssa Milano, Jessica Biel, Seth Meyers, Til Schweiger, Katherine Heigl, John Bon Jovi, Sofia Vergara, Russell Peters, Ashton Kutcher, Lea Michele, Sarah Jessica Parker, Josh Duhamel, and many, many more! There’s someone for everyone, the diversity is truly amazing, and the whole family will have a part they love.

One of the best parts of the movie is that it is made up of a number of different stories, which all work together beautifully! The stories show that NYE can be stressful, exciting, beautiful, but that in the last hours of the old year, it is never too late to make dreams and wishes come true. A concert, a hospital stay, pregnancies, a stuck elevator and much more – a movie with such variety, hardly found in any other movie!

Talking more about the content of the movie would take away the magic and excitement that comes with watching it, so we will leave it at that!

Be it the heartfelt moments in the movie, the funny ones, or those that make us reflect on our own lives, in the end the audience can take away that the magic of NYE touches everyone, after all a New Year is a New Beginning!

Beginning a new year is scary since it is a whole new 365 days ahead of us again, but it is also wonderful and the beginning of something new and exciting!

One more note: @TreeHugger has this year’s NYE Ball Drop Electricity Provision covered. It’s quite interesting; check it out!

Sometimes we can find our personalities in others, if we just chose to search for ourselves: “In the book Soldiers on the Home Front, I was greatly struck by the fact that in childbirth alone, women commonly suffer more pain, illness and misery than any war hero ever does. An what's her reward for enduring all that pain? She gets pushed aside when she's disfigured by birth, her children soon leave, hear beauty is gone. Women, who struggle and suffer pain to ensure the continuation of the human race, make much tougher and more courageous soldiers than all those big-mouthed freedom-fighting heroes put together.” ― Anne Frank, The Diary of a Young Girl “I'd rather be thought of as smart, capable, strong, and compassionate than beautiful. Those things all persist long after beauty fades.” ― Cassandra Duffy “The strength of a woman is not measured by the impact that all her hardships in life have had on her; but the strength of a woman is measured by the extent of her refusal to allow those hardships to dictate her and who she becomes.” ― C.
