Envy won NPL Royale! Not Tempo Storm!

This is great news for the National PUBG League. Tempo Storm has been dominating the NPL, coming in first in the preseason, NPL Royale 1, and Phase 1 of the NPL season. In fact, they’re still 1st place on the leaderboard in Phase 2 of the NPL season. If you watch the NPL, you know the feeling. Tempo Storm rolls in and smites everyone in their surroundings, seemingly winning whenever they feel like it. It’s almost like they have a magical power to find winning situations, whether it’s hiding in compounds, waiting for the right time to strike like a vulture, or just rolling over squads by overwhelming them with skill. However, one situation they weren’t able to win, is NPL Royale 2. At NPL Royale 2, Tempo Storm didn’t win anything convincingly to show viewers why they are the #1 team in North America. They were in the middle of the pack of those who qualified for the finals, being 5th out of 8 who qualified in their group. In the finals, they finished near the bottom of the pack, at 12th place out of 16.

This is an extremely disappointing finish for them. However, they did show flashes of greatness. In game one, they rolled over Yellow Pike Gaming, despite the fact that they were holding in a strong compound. They came in second this game, losing a 3v4 against Simplicity, a situation they should have come out on top on. Simplicity had no cover, just a few trees and a rock. On the other hand, Tempo Strom had hills, a whole ridge-line to use as cover. Tempo Storm had plenty of meds and weapons, whereas Simplicity was a bit short on these resources as they held a single compound for the whole game. Despite the man disadvantage, Tempo Storm had the terrain and resource advantage over Simplicity, this is a situation where they should have come out on top. But they did not. After this game, they didn’t find much success either.

This is not normal for Tempo Storm. it’s normal for them to roll over other teams, even when the odds are against them. They’ve fallen hard at NPL Royale 2, which might open the field up for other teams in the future. Tempo Storm has been dominating for so long, viewers have already started to grow tired of seeing the same faces on top. As humans, we have a tendency to cheer for underdogs. So many viewers will be happy to see diversity in the winners role.
