Castle Pizza, a little restaurant camouflaged within a strip mall on Elbow Drive, is generally the place to satisfy teenagers’ food demands in the Southwest area of Calgary. Since it is right in front of Henry Wise Wood High School, I decided to visit Castle Pizza after my classes.
The atmosphere of the shop is very welcoming, due to the overflowing friendliness of the store owner. The shop itself was quite crowded, as the swarm of Wise Wood students raced to Castle Pizza soon after the bell. The menu consists of a variety of foods, ranging from stomach fillers such as Vietnamese subs to beverages and finger foods, such as chicken wings and bubble tea. (Although I would not recommend the bubble tea, as it is made out of powder and is overpriced.)
From all the food Castle Pizza offers, my personal favorite is the beef donair (As shown in the picture). It is the perfect blend of crispy beef with lettuce and onions, covered with thick sweet sauce and wrapped in pita bread. The vegetables taste very fresh, and the beef is constantly heated on their roasting machine before making the donair. As for a beverage, I would recommend the donair with Arizona Iced Tea. The sweet, refreshing taste of iced tea would complement the rich flavor of sweet sauce and beef; making it a suitable meal.
