Remember the excitement people felt when Target announced that they were opening stores in Canada just a few short years ago? Well, I guess the hyped feeling people were experiencing soon died as Target stores in Canada were incomparable to the American Target. As people hoped for the wide-ranged products at reasonable prices, it just didn’t happen. As a result, Target has been losing everyday according to Target Corporation CEO Brian Cornell during his interview with CTV news.
In addition, it was said that Target was struggling ever since Day 1 after purchasing more than 200 Zellers locations from Hudson’s Bay Co, replacing the labels that used to state “Everything from A-Z”. Expecting to make great profit like they do in the United States, Target seemed to a bit of too ambitious. Due to their ambition and lack of readiness, numerous Canadian Targets faced inventory problems, resulting in empty shelves and frustrated customers. Not only were some of the shelves empty, when Target came to Canada, they forgot to bring the outlet prices with them.
As a result of the problems Target is facing, they are going into liquidation sales and eventually leaving Canada!
