Songs on Repeat- May Edition

It seems like the second school semester has just flown by. I have a hard time believing that it’s already May, and the school year is starting to wrap up. As many of you know, this is one of the busiest times during the school year. Teachers are rushing to finish all the required content, and the stress of final exams looms heavy on your shoulders. To help me push through these stressful times, I have been relying a lot on music. As someone who considers myself a huge music lover, I often find myself plugging in my headphones and listening to my favourite songs to unwind after a long, tiring day. I thought I would share some of the songs that have held me intact these past few days.

Get It by Keshi

To be completely honest, when I first heard this song, it did not vibe with me at all. I thought it was sort of strange and not my style. Having been a huge fan of Keshi for the past while, I was majorly disappointed when this song first came out. However, it has definitely grown on me. The intro gets catchier the more you listen to it, and now I really appreciate how there are so many different aspects to the song. I’m telling you, don’t judge a song by its first impression. I am sure there are many other songs like this one, where it is actually amazing once you listen to it for a while.

Lonely Street by Stray Kids

Any Stays out here? This song has been on repeat ever since Stray Kids released their new album back in March. It’s my favourite track off the album and brings me a lot of comfort. The lyrics make me feel understood when I am going through times where I feel as if there is no one around me. Also, the melody is awesome, and the rap lines hit the spot, true to Stray Kids’ fashion. You can find me at night jamming out to this song.

Fall by Ash Island

R&B is a genre that I have been venturing into recently. I never used to listen to this genre, or anything related to hip-hop. However, I fell in love with this style of music through Ash Island’s songs. They are very mellow, but also have a catchy melody. “Fall” is a breakup song dedicated to Ash Island’s ex and has very relatable yet deep lyrics. Right after the first verse, he breaks off into a melodic rap, and it was this part that made me instantly fall in love with the song. It’s a great song to listen to at night, right before you fall asleep. Many of his other songs have been on repeat for me this past month. Some others I recommend are “Because” and “Nightmare”.

Letting Go by DAY6

If you ask anyone that knows me, they will tell you that I am a huge DAY6 fan. All my playlists are filled with their songs, and I have almost all the songs’ lyrics memorized. DAY6 songs are my go-to songs, whether I feel sad or happy. Letting Go was one of the first DAY6 songs I heard, and it is still one of my favourites. It is a mixture between a ballad and a rock song and has killer background instrumentals. The lyrics are my favourite part of the song, though. It talks about letting go of something you’ve been selfishly holding onto because in the end letting go will benefit you more than holding on. This song has given me a lot of life advice, as I have a bad habit of holding on to little things.

Feel free to check some of these songs out, and I hope you like them as much as I do!
