Pigs can’t fly, but I think that Swine Flu Can!!

We’ve all finally given into swine flu (H1N1). It may be very similar to just a regular flu, but it’s spreading fast! At least half my school has been gripped by the flu, or by some other sickness or cold, and parents are serving kids chicken noodle soup in bed all over the city.

What can we do in this time of distress? Well, even if you might feel well enough to drag yourself to school, do everyone else a favour and stay home. This isn’t about you being able to go or not, this is about the health of your friends, co-workers and classmates. You’ve probably seen many commercials about what to do to avoid receiving or spreading the flu, and these should be listened to because they are very important.

Vaccinations have officially come out. Will you be getting one? I think that it is important for doctors, people working with the elderly or children, or public service workers to get the shot, but for others it’s just a long wait in line so that you don’t have to stay home sick.

Tell me your opinion on the flu, vaccinations, and what the government is doing to try and stop its spread.

  1. Alberta health is doing an absolutely horrible job on vaccinations. I mean seriously, only 5 clinics for over 1 million people? What were they thinking? They really need to step up in their game and do something smart about it.

Also, personally, I think the swine flu is completely overrated. True, it is a new type of flu but normal flu kills people too. It is just not being broadcasted by the media because it happens so often where as swine flu is a lot more rare. The power of the media is a strong one to face. It is true though that swine flu can become dangerous but that is only if proper actions were not taken to solve the problem. This is the same with normal flu. Also, I won't be surprised if some of our bodies already have created antibodies against swine flu. The whole point of this vaccination for those who don't know is one to boost your immune system but more importantly, inject dead H1N1 viruses into your body, ones that cant hurt you, but ones that will trigger a production of antibodies against them in your body so they will be there the next time you come into contact with H1N1 viruses and you can get rid of them right away instead of waiting for your body to create the antibodies. Since H1N1 is airborne and many many people are sick. We all probably came into contact with it at least once already unknowingly so some of us will likely have protection against H1N1 already. This is just me talking though.

Oh and just pointing something out in the video, hand sanitizers are actually not that good for you. It kills harmful bacteria on your hand plus the good ones for you that are already there. This means it opens your hands to direct contact with the harmful bacteria where as before, there were good bacteria to prevent direct contact. Washing your hands is a way better way to do it.

    Done blabbing, great post! lol
