Probably one of North America’s most beautiful urban parks, Vancouver‘s Stanley Park draws an estimated 8 million visitors a year.
The park’s primary forms of recreation include walking, inline skating, biking, and running.
The most popular place to run is along the seawall; especially at dawn and dusk when the lighting on the water is spectacular.
There are approximately 200 kilometres in trails through Stanley Park.
There is thought to be around half a million trees throughout the park. Some of these are hundreds of years old.
A popular attraction in the park is its totem poles, which had an interpretive centre built to accompany them in 2001.
Another popular monument is the bronze statue of a girl in a wetsuit, by Elek Imredy, which was donated to the park in 1972.
Another major attraction is the park’s beautifully arranged gardens, which are tended by staff regularly.
One of the most beautiful gardens are the Rose Gardens, which are bursting with life and colour this time of year.
Overall Stanley Park is an amazing place to spend a day (or two), and is in my opinion, a must see for anyone visiting Vancouver!
