With the arrival of fall, comes the arrival of new trends in the fashion world. Last saturday Calgary got to witness some of the most unique fall pieces created yet by Canadian designers at PARKLUXE 2014.
PARKLUXE was an evening out into the beautiful world of fashion and art which aspired to showcase local designers and professional artist’s work. The designers’ work showcased on the runway this year were: Caitlin Power, Laura Seigel, Malorie Urbanovitch, Workhall Boutique, Paul Hardy Design, and Maison Matthew Gallagher.
The clothing this season really stood out to me, very bold and unique, borderline edgy, and very very sexy. I really loved the edgy look portrayed on the runway this season. That sense of danger and edge made the outfits look super hot even with the slightly bland fall colour schemes. Although I am not a personal fan of fall colours because I find them very plain, this season these plain lifeless colours came to life, and when combined correctly looked simply astonishing.
This ravishing piece was designed by Paul Hardy, and I’m simply in love with it! Firstly I love the fur, in my opinion it looks incredibly cozy and comfortable and it also makes a bold statement. Comfortable and trendy, what more can a girl ask for? Plus fur is always in, this foxy outfit is definitely an eye-catcher!
Caitlin Power blew me out of the park with this piece! I admire the combination of black and the pop of blue! This jacket definitely caught my eye due to the leather arms and of course the colour. The leather created an edgy touch, and the layering of the jacket made the outfit look 1000 times hotter.
I’m not going to lie, Laura Siegel’s collection was definitely my favourite! Her entire collection screamed unique! Let me start with the colour scheme… I absolutely hate those shades of green but when I saw the both of them pieced together with that gorgeous necklace and sexy headband, I fell head over heels for it! The black headband adds a sense of alluring danger and in my perspective adds a sense of mystery to the outfit and person wearing it. This edgy look is fascinating.
They say simplicity is key to beauty, and if that’s true then Matthew Gallagher definitely knows what he is doing. I really liked how Matthew used a light colour like this white/beige extending it to the neck and all the way down, it makes the outfit look very classy. The black fabric portion, in my opinion, makes the outfit deserve a second glance. If I had to describe his entire collection in one word I’d definitely call it glamorous.
Workhall Boutique: I need a pair of those glasses, I’ve fallen in love with them! This look is just so edgy and raw, its killer. I think the simplicity of the black top and the way it is designed around the collar adds a classy look to the outfit, but for me the glasses are the show stealer. Favourite accessory throughout all the collects would definitely be these glasses.
Now for my favourite outfit of the night, a Paul Hardy design. What’s not to love about this outfit, its unique, edgy, glamours, sexy, and beautiful all in one. The silver fabric added richness to the outfit, where as the black gloves added danger and edge. Undoubtedly, this piece is my number one pick from all collections seen on the runway!
As time evolves so do fashion trends, and I’ve got to say the designers at PARKLUXE 2014 are magic makers and trend setters. All five collections, were stunning and amazingly designed! Hats off to all the designers and everyone apart of PARKLUXE 2014 that made it such a memorable night!
