Over Easy Breakfast, an Easy Favourite

My absolute all time favourite breakfast place in the entire world is OEB (Over Easy Breakfast) on Edmonton Trail. Locally owned and operated, the breakfast place’s “belief is to change the breakfast scene one dish at the time, by working together with local producers and entrepreneurs, to achieve the ultimate in breakfast dining.”

The diner has enormous amounts of variety present on their menu, which changes twice a year.

Despite a million different delectable sounding choices, I never worry about my meal selection; every choice is the best choice at OEB. Although I’ve already mentioned this, Over Easy is soooo incredibly good, so, I can’t tell you my favourite dish because I simply have too many. For fry lovers I’d suggest Soul in a Bowl, a poutine inspired dish topped with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. Or for those who like it sweet I’d recommend either the French Toast Trifle which comes stuffed/topped with “Meyer lemon curd, seasonal fresh berries, pistachios & torched Swiss Meringue” or the Do Not Even Go There French Toast, which is stuffed with New York Cheesecake and Amarena cherry compote! Yummy! Lastly, there are the classics, my favourite choices are either Eggs Benny  or pancakes; delicious and excellent choices at any breakfast place. Even people who aren’t really breakfast people will enjoy going to Over Easy, their menu

also offers a selection of burgers and sandwiches.

The only downsides to OEB are the long wait and the price of the food. However, both should suggest that this place is pretty delicious. When you get there do expect to stand a bit, waiting for a table. Luckily, once your order is placed food comes quickly, I consider the wait for a table part of waiting for my meal. Also, sometimes when your waiting servers will bring coffee for those who want it and offer banana bread, so the wait’s really not that bad. Dishes are pricey for breakfast, often over $10, although I believe the price is worth it; the quality of food you get, and for how long you are full after (I usually don’t have lunch) are well worth the price.

  1. Lauren, Your breakfast blog made me head straight for the kitchen to try and make something creative.

Who is the couple that look like they stepped right off Grant Wood’s canvas, American Gothic? All he lacks is the pitchfork.
