In the fragmented world that we are living in today, it is more important now than ever that we are able to get to know and support our fellow neighbours. One way the community of Edgemont aims to promote this type of community building is through its One World Celebration.
One of the greatest ways to show your spirit of inclusiveness, as well as foster a better sense of community, is to come out to this year’s One World Celebration. This year, we are honoured to be hosting a citizenship ceremony to commemorate our wonderful country and warmly welcome our new neighbours. This event also aims to showcase the resources that the community has to offer to you and your family.
This year’s One World Celebration will take place at the Foothills Alliance Church (333 Edgepark Blvd NW) on October 7th, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00pm.
As in past years, this will be a joint venture, with contributions from all the community schools, including the choir from Mother Mary Greene, the belonging exhibit from Edgemont School, the cultural booths from Tom Baines, and the language displays from Sir Winston Churchill. The following are among some of the local agencies and organizations that will also be in attendance:
- Alberta Health Services
- BowWest Community Resource Centre
- Calgary Chinese Elderly Citizens Association
- Calgary Community Kitchen
- Calgary Foothills Primary Care Network
- Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association
- Calgary Northwest Early Childhood Coalition
- Calgary Police Service – Diversity Unit
- Calgary Public Library
- City of Calgary
- Edgemont Community Association
- Edgemont Youth Reporters
- Northwest Community Church
- Philatilist Group
- Scouts
So come on out, bring your family and friends, welcome our new citizens, learn about some local organizations, chat with a neighbour, and celebrate community! Everyone is welcome!
