Thanks to Kids Up Front for donating two tickets for my friend and I to attend the Nelly Furtado concert at the Jubilee. It was truly a magnificent event as it showcased three major artists: Jessica Tyler from Degrassi, Dylan Murray and of course, Nelly Furtado. Jessica Tyler, the girl who plays Jenna Middleton in Degrassi showed her true talent when she impressed the audience with her ability to sing a variety of love songs. She also played a hit single “Shine” that she performed on the first season of Degrassi. The next artist was Dylan Murray, who is passionate about inspiring people with his music. He just came out with his album called “Inspiration” and I definitely encourage you to check it out!
Most importantly, the famous star of the night was Nelly Furtado who re-patched her singing career by coming to Calgary after almost ten years. She did an outstanding performance by performing her hit singles such as “I’m Like a Bird” and “Promiscuous Girl”. Nelly rocked the stage with her unique dance moves and charisma. The most touching aspect of the whole concert was when she sang her single, “Bucket List.” Prior to the concert, she encouraged the audience to submit an item that was on their bucket list. Just when she was about to sing this song, she read out three people’s items and one of them touched the audience’s soul. The 12-year-old girl told the world she just wanted to live in a world of peace. That was all. It’s simply remarkable how the children in our generation are wise beyond their years. Once Nelly performed all her hit singles, she ended the concert with taking a picture of her with the audience, something that most celebrities don’t do. I found it amazing how she recognized the audience and truly tries to incorporate them in her performance, a remarkable quality that she possesses.
That wasn’t the best part of the concert though. It gets better… Essentially the concert was hosted by Nelly Furtado to support Free the Children. All the money from the shirts, accessories and albums purchased would be donated to Free the Children to help build schools in third world countries and educate our future generation! Jessica Tyler and Dylan Murray were also found after the concert at the Me to We booth to help promote people to support this wonderful organization created by Mark and Craig Kielburger. This concert wasn’t just an ordinary concert; it was a concert that was showcased to help raise money for an organization that has changed the world. Even if you weren’t there, you can still make an impact. Check out their website.
Get Involved! Maybe you could become a Free the Children Ambassador just like the Degrassi cast and Nelly Furtado!
