Neat Ways to Wrap Your Presents

It’s the beginning of December, and it might seem too early to buy presents for the holidays…but it is better to buy early than wait until the last minute. You have time to find a good gift for someone (and your Secret Santa), are not in a rush to resort to a generic gift, and are able to wait it out until a good sale arrives.

But after all that shopping, you’ve got to find a way to wrap those presents up! So how do you do it? Spend a bunch of money on wrapping paper? Pfft, only if you’re wasteful! Just remember, people tend to rip those presents up like there is no tomorrow (and there might not be, for those Mayan conspirators). Here is a short list of unique ways to wrap your presents

5. Ropes

Instead of using ribbon, why not use some extra yarn you gathered after knitting that scarf for your grandma?

What about belts, neckties, scarves, a leash, shoelaces, or cords?

Velvet or satin ribbon is also a really simple way to add a cute touch to your gift.

String with certain accents would look nice…and what about a jumping rope?

4. Bows

Instead of using a generic bow from the Dollarstore, consider a pasta bow-tie! Ever considered the use of buttons or jingle bells?

Try using some bright construction paper as well or cute ponytail holders. Or even an 8-bit bow. Those are pretty sweet, too.

3. Accents

Natural objects like coral or shells look wonderful on boxes. Try cutting images out from greeting cards, magazines or the like as well!

If you are stuck thinking of something, try colored tape, doilies, felt or foam–make crazy designs with them, too!

2. Tags

Wooden tags, paint chips, blank stickers, anything with pretty designs can be cut out and personalized for your giftee!

1. Paper

The most important part of wrapping a gift, is of course, the paper you use. Save $5 and try using wallpaper, calendars, old maps, or the Sunday comics. Do you have a lot of colored plastic bags? Tie ’em up together and wrap it around your gift!

What about reusable bags or cloths? Just bundle the handle together and wrap it up; you essentially give a gift and a useful bag! If you’re giving a smaller gift, try wrapping it in a nice dish towel.

And if you’re really creative, consider tin foil or cutting open a potato bag, washing it, and using the inside as shiny, silver wrapping paper!
