Much thanks to the Kids Up Front for giving me tickets to the Musicians Care for Kids. An annual event where musicians team up to raise funds for the Boys & Girls Club. The host for the night is the renowned Calgarian artist, Russell Broom, a JUNO winner for songwriter of the year. The musicians playing are: Gordie Johnson, the front man for the reggae-rock band Big Sugar; Romi Mayes, five time WCMA winner; David Gogo, notorious blues musician and multiple Maple Blues Award winner; Reuben Bullock, Calgarian folk artist and 2012 CFMA nominee; Del Barber, two time WCMA winner and Andrea House, Albertan singer/songwriter, taking turns sharing their stories, motivations and inspirations behind some of their finest songs. (Boys & Girls Club)
It was a lot of fun and a musically enriching evening to see all these wonderful musicians combine and come up with good music. I liked how there was something for everyone, as all of the musicians are different: Del Barber is a folk artist and Romi Mayes is a country musician.
