Hola to one and all. On this fine Tuesday, I’d like to share with you one of my favourite songs, Still Sound by Toro Y Moi.

I always feel happy when I listen to this song. It gives off pleasing vibes and makes me want to dance and get into the groove.  The video is great because it amplifies the song as Toro is dancing with a massive grin on his face. He has this weird instant likeability about him which just makes me like the song even more. It’s a feeling that I can put a face to the music and when it’s a smiling one like his, I feel intrinsically happy. I’m usually listening to this song when I’m writing (like right now) and when I’m putting my fresh laundry into the closet (I also dance during this)  I think the song’s fantastic!

Chaz Bundick, what a charming man!

On the artist:

Chaz Bundick better known by his stage name Toro y Moi, is an American recording artist and producer. “Toro y Moi” name is a multilingual expression consisting of Spanish word toro, meaning ‘bull’, y (Spanish for ‘and’), and moi (‘me’ in French). He is of African and Filipino descent (Wikipedia)

Chaz Bundick’s methods are constantly changing and evolving. Heavily influenced by his parent’s vinyl and tape collection, he also possesses great admiration for contemporary influences like Animal Collective, Sonic Youth, J Dilla, and Daft Punk.  Like most prepubescent teens, he had his punk band and once that died out, the “side project” soon became the main focus.

Toro y Moi started in 2001 as a bedroom project but quickly grew into the live performance realm. The songs are born from a plethora of different genres, from freak-folk to R&B to French House. http://www.carparkrecords.com/toroymoipresspage.html
