Starring Sam Worthington and Elizabeth Banks, Man On A Ledge is simply an overexaggerated heist thriller with a different twist, in my opinion. The story is about an escaped con/ex-cop, Nick Cassidy (Worthington) who is framed by millionaire businessman, David Englander (Ed Harris), since he framed him stealing his $40 million diamond for which he recieved another $40 million.
The movie plot seems promising at the beginning of the movie, since the director creates some interest in the audience when Cassidy initially plans on commiting suicide and the analysis of the scene also maintains some amount of interest. Although the negotiation scenes that take place between Cassidy and Lydia Mercer (Elizabeth Banks) are fairly intersting, they are simply played too lightheartedly and it does not satisfy the same dynamic that should be there between a cop trying to convince a person to avoid suicide and the person comitting suicide. Another thing that made the movie even more unrealistic is how Cassidy’s accomplices are two amatuer crooks, Joey Cassidy (Jamie Bell) and Angie (Genesis Rodriguez), who can manage to break into an incredible high security vault. Yet another thing, that makes the film seem like just another time killer, rather than a genuinely interesting film is how Cassidy is able to manouevre around the wall with relative ease.
Although, the movie would seem as boring and without depth to the average critic, it is relatively decent, in terms of action and suspense, that starts to be fairly predictable later in the movie.
