What do you think is better Mac or PC?
Before we get too far in, I will be using the term PC as a replacement for Windows even though the term personal computer does apply to both.
We will go through a few differences and you can decide for yourself which is better
First I will discuss price, then software, and lastly security.
Price is the most major difference between PC and Mac. For example, if you were to buy a Mac Book Air for $1000, the value of the computer would be much lower than its PC counterpart. This is because Mac has its own operating system which is hard to get on a PC. Therefore, Mac fans are forced to pay a premium because Apple lacks competition in that sector. On the other hand PC has lots of competition which gives you lots of choice on design as well as price range.
One of the most important reasons that PC has captured a larger part of the computer industry is because software is developed for it. For recreational use of computers, PC is more chosen due to the wider selection of Software. Steam is a program which allows you to purchase and launch games and some software without a disc or having to head to EB games or BestBuy. In this program, there are only approximately 180 games playable on Mac while there are more than 1300 on PC.
Because most computers run windows, most virus attacks focus on PC but rarely harm Macs. As Macs popularity and market share increases, virus attacks will eventually grow with it. However a Mac owner who has no security software installed is less likely to get a virus than a PC user.
Now that I have explained the differences between Mac and PC, would the difference in price affect your choice between them? Would the fact that there is a much wider variety of software for Pc affect your choice? Knowing that viruses target PCs more than Macs, would that affect your choice? Personally I prefer PCs over Macs because of the variety in software. I would make sure that I have a good Anti-virus installed before downloading anything onto my PC. Thank you for listening.
