Being a teenager is no easy task with grades, social lives, and a daunting thing called “the future” to take into consideration all at once.
Thankfully, this summer, the City of Calgary’s Youth Employment Centre is running a program called the Jump $tart program for teenagers 15 and 16 years old. This free program is a great opportunity for teenagers to gain employment experience- whether it be solely for the sake of enriching your own knowledge or wanting to gain work skills, this program is an excellent opportunity for everyone.
The Jump $tart program provides a great chance for youth to become involved in a number of workshops, experience guest speakers, and engage in workplace tours. From learning how to write resumes to helping youth develop essential skills for finding and managing careers, this program also offers a ton of beneficial resources. Not only will this be an extremely helpful program, you will also get to meet a lot of new people and make a lot of new friends.
This year, the Jump $tart program will be running from July 8-26, 2013. As an optional work exploration addition, the program will extend until August 2, 2013.
If you, like me, are eager to learn more about employment or careers in general, you won’t regret taking part in this program for the experience and just to simply have fun!
