I like the colour red
It reminds me of lush gardens
Filled with the flesh of fresh berries, or
hanging from the branches above are the vibrant skin of cherries
I like the colour red
As it is how one would describe my rain boots that I would wear on a gloomy day
Because not only does it serve its purpose of functionality
but it’s the colour that gives life to the grey
I like the colour red
The deep and majestic colour of blood reminds me of life
It reminds me of how precious it is and
how easily it can be taken away by strife
I like the colour red
My heart is just as red as the blood pumping life to it is
The same heart that allows me to live, laugh, and love, and
Now I realize that love is red
I like the colour red
It is a way to describe the human emotion of madness
It reminds me of how human I am and how human you are
And how we are filled with feelings spouting all the way from the variety of cheerfulness to hopelessness
I like the colour red.
I see around me through my eyes
I wear it on my body as a guard in disguise
It flows beneath my skin and up and down and around in my veins
That even gives life to my heart which sometimes sounds insane
I like the colour red
For it gives life to my day
And as I reflect, it gives life both literally and metaphorically I should say
