Glee has been a huge success within its last four seasons to many teenage girls and boys alike. You can relate to it no matter who you are, popular, music nerd, outcast, really anyone. They have also successfully covered many topics such as texting and driving, teen marriages and pregnancies and school shootings, in a way that really captures the attention of teens. This success was huge and captured many fans such as myself, but with the new, 5th season just starting, I can tell that their time in the spotlight is up. Here are my four reasons that I don’t think Glee will last much longer:
1. Finn is gone: Now I’m sure you all knew that this would be my first and most important key statement. Cory Monteith, the actor who played one of the main lead characters Finn, passed away due to a drug overdose this July. Finn was a jock character that had a secret interest in music. He was funny and charming. He was set to take over teaching the glee choir this season, but the writers have decided to cut out the character, feeling that Cory was irreplaceable. However, we have not seen how the death will play out on screen yet, so I, along with many others, am curious to see how they tie it in, which most definitely will result in more views.
2. Relationships: This show is well known for crazy relationship drama and love triangles that us teens just love. I am getting extremely tired of all the dating. I am sure that pretty much every character within the glee club has dated one another at some point. I believe that this is very unrealistic and most of the new couples don’t really work at all. Artie and Kitty – like seriously?! They are nothing alike and make a terrible match.
3. New cast members: The original season of glee consisted of many talented actors and since it was set in high school, after the third season many had to leave since the character would have moved onto college. They brought in new characters last season, but I think they are way too similar to the characters that left.
4. Story line: You can only do so much within a television show about the drama of high school and being in the glee club before it get’s old.
Don’t get me wrong, I am a huge fan of the show, but just not this season. It was a great success but now I think it is time to give the reigns over to a new television show, and let them have their turn at extreme popularity.
They signed for seasons 5 and 6 though, so I think the next two seasons are guaranteed. -.-
That is true, however if their rating are low enough, they can still cancel the show
