Forgotten

Scenes, they flash along the hall…
Every second of it all.
With reels of regret and rewinding worries,
You’ll find all your treasured memories.

You’re out of your mind that you’d forget
Important days I made you set
Like you refuse to even care
But you’ll remember soon you swear

Would you ever forget to breathe?
To go and fulfill your every need?
You shouldn’t forget that there are those
You might neglect, that need you most

The unimaginable occurs.
That we’re invincible is but a lure.
But aren’t you the glad about the fact
That this time you could turn time back

For saving me, I thank you so
Hold me tight, my superhero
That you’ll know to come is but a dream
So thanks for the reality you bring

I could have died if not for you
For all that you forget to do
And all that you forget to see
Thanks for not forgetting me

For each rewind the reel does turn,
And all the wrongs are tapes to burn.
Let’s trace it back to when you regret
Not studying for that forgotten test….

What brilliance hides within your mind
That you were even done on time
For the entrance test to that school itself
A certificate does hang that boasts your best

You’ll marry someone deserving you
Who appreciates all that you do
That gorgeous memory in your head
Has a lot of future packed ahead

And there it comes, your wish right after,
As your very desire was that you would get her.
So you turn back time to have fulfilled
All that you did hope revealed.

You lived your life so long and free
As everyone you dreamed to be
This time you reap all you have grown
This time you didn’t die alone

It’s not your fault, don’t think it’s you
It doesn’t matter as it’s true
When you recall all that it seems
Just don’t forget t’is but a dream

One that’s made for you to ease.
To drop the grudge and rest in peace.
You’re not forgotten.

We all have regrets. We all wish we could turn time back and do all we’ve done wrong and failed to do right. In the end of our lives, we can hopefully relive all those memories, forgotten or otherwise. And maybe during that instant… We can dream. We can dream that we do have the power to change things. But don’t worry too much. Things always fall into place in the end 🙂 Enjoy the second-person story telling!

Here’s a place for more poetry if you liked this one.
